The Hey Class is now pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah. The children are expected to become proficient in Hebrew Reading and understanding the basic prayers. The Shabbat morning Torah Service and Musaf are introduced along with reviewing all that has been taught up to this point. Bible Studies now give way to the study of Jewish history from the Middle Ages to the 20th Century. This class also participates in the Hidon HaTanach, Regional Bible Contest. They spend four months studying the Book of Exodus and test their knowledge against other Conservative schools in the New York Metropolitan area. Their work in the the Library includes research of important figures in Jewish history, as well as, discussing issues of ethical and moral importance to them.
