Our youngest children come once a week on Sunday morning. Mechina is the hebrew word for preparatory. The Primary and Mechina students learn the basics about the holidays as they come in the Hebrew Calendar and become familiar with the synagogue. They will also be introduced to Hebrew letters and basic vocabulary as it is used in the classroom, the synagogue and at home. Students visit the Library weekly where they hear a story that pertains to the calendar and/or the work being done in class. They are also encouraged to borrow books from our Children’s Section. The children also attend a music class where they learn songs in Hebrew and English.
