
Dr. Barry Dov Schwartz - Rabbi
Since 1973, Rabbi Schwartz has served as our Rabbi. He is an honors graduate of Boston University and The Hebrew Teachers College. In 1965, he was ordained by The Jewish Theological Seminary, where he was named the Cyrus Adler Scholar as the Seminary's outstanding student. In 1980 he earned his Doctoral Degree from the Seminary and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity Honorary degree in 1991. Rabbi Schwartz is the past president of the Rabbinical Assembly of Long Island and currently serves as an executive member of both the Long Island and New York Board of Rabbis. He appears in Who's Who's in World Jewry and Who's Who in American Jewry. He is Chairman of the Rockville Centre Human Rights Commission, Chaplain to both the Rockville Centre Police and Fire Departments, and a member of the Board of Governors at Mercy Hospital. Rabbi Schwartz is also the Chaplain of the Nassau County Police Department. In 2005 he visited the Vatican and met with Pope John Paul II and In July 2008 Rabbi Schwartz visited Cuba.
Boris Pevsner - Cantor
Cantor Pevsner has been Temple B'nai Sholom's Cantor since 2006. He holds musical and vocal diplomas from musical colleges and institutes in Russia. Cantor Pevsner studied Cantorial Liturgy with Oscar Berry, Leon Berger and at Yeshiva University. His beautiful tenor voice and varied Cantorial, Hebrew and Yiddish repertoire have earned Cantor Pevsner great popularity, especially at Temple B'nai Sholom's social events where he is often asked to perform.
Richard Perlbinder - Ritual Director
Richard is a lifelong student of Jewish culture and religion. Richard grew up in Valley Stream, Long Island, he attended the Hebrew High School of the Five Towns, and the Prozdor School at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Prior to joining B'nai Sholom, Richard was the Baal Koreh at Temple Gates of Zion in Valley Stream for three years. Please join Richard at our daily Shacharit minyan and on Shabbat.
